AOL, Fox Sports Team on Content Partnership
AOL will now distribute content from Fox Sports shows including 'Garbage Time' and '@TheBuzzer.'
Fox Sports shows have found a new home at AOL.
In a deal announced Wednesday between the cable network and the tech company, AOL will now distribute select game highlights and video from Fox Sports shows including @TheBuzzer and Garbage Time. The pact bolsters AOL's sports content as the company looks to build out distribution and original programming in that category with partnerships such as one with Derek Jeter's The Players' Tribune.
As part of the deal, AOL and Fox Sports will co-develop content tied to major sports events such as this summer's Women's World Cup soccer tournament, which Fox Sports owns the U.S. rights to.
AOL and its network of sites reach 92 million monthly viewers. Fox Sports holds the rights to air games from Major League Baseball and NCAA football and races from NASCAR, among others.
