Arantxa Ecija appointed at Globomedia
Named director of fiction at Spanish TV production powerhouseMADRID -- Spanish TV production powerhouse Globomedia announced Wednesday the appointment of Arantxa Ecija to the newly created post of director of fiction, reporting to Globomedia president and her brother Daniel Ecija.
In the new post, Ecija will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day planning and creation of fiction series.
Ecija, a veteran director and executive producer with Globomedia since its founding in 1993, most recently directed six episodes of the trendsetting, high-budget period drama "Aguila Roja," a Globomedia series created for pubcaster TVE, where it set local viewing records, averaging 30% in its second season with 5.6 million viewers.
Creators of 10 of the top fiction series in Spain over the past 14 seasons, Globomedia has increasingly focused on producing series that easily cross borders in prime time. Presently its product is airing in 125 countries, including Italy with "I Cesaroni," Germany with "Countdown" and France with "Boarding School."
