Arc Productions Promotes Jeff Young To Top Post
The former Starz Animation Toronto studio, now Canadian-owned, bumps finance whiz to top job as David Steinberg leaves the house.
TORONTO – Jeff Young has been promoted to president and COO of Arc Productions in Toronto after a recent takeover and rebranding.
The hiring follows a local consortium acquiring majority control of Starz Animation Toronto and turning the Canadian-owned 3D cartoon factory into Arc Productions.
Young, most recently head of finance and business development at Starz Animation Toronto, replaces David Steinberg, who served as executive vp and head of the Toronto studio before departing after the recent takeover.
Young’s job at the former Starz Animation Toronto studio included enticing Hollywood studios to bring their projects to his cartoon factory to exploit up-front cost savings from local film and digital tax credits.
That work included Gnomeo & Juliet, an animated feature for Miramax Films and Elton John’s Rocket Pictures that performed well at the theatrical boxoffice.
The Canadian consortium that acquired a majority stake in Starz Animation Toronto from U.S. media giant Starz Media is also expanding the studio’s development slate to include indie productions, more intellectual property and international co-productions.
Tom Murray, partner and co-CEO of Arc Productions also named Peter Kozik, a former Price Waterhouse Cooper senior manager, as vp of finance.
