Aretha Franklin Cancels Public Appearances Until Next May
News comes after singer spent time in a Detroit hospital for undisclosed reasons last month.
Aretha Franklin has canceled all concert and personal appearances until next May as per her doctors' orders, her publicist announced Thursday.
Although no specific reason was given for the interruption in her professional schedule, the past year has seen a few unexpected pitfalls for the 68-year-old "Queen of Soul." Franklin cancelled two East Coast shows last August after falling at home and breaking her ribs, and last month, she spent time in a Detroit hospital for undisclosed reasons.
Reuters reports that Franklin's publicist reiterated for the singer an apology for the cancellations, and added: "Ms. Franklin is resting comfortably at home, but is very anxious to get back on the road to perform for her countless fans around the world."
