Arnold Schwarzenegger Married Two Same-Sex Couples While California's Governor (Video)
The actor, a Republican, tells "60 Minutes" that he performed two ceremonies involving former staffers in his office.
Arnold Schwarzenegger revealed in a 60 Minutes interview he married two same-sex couples while serving as California's governor.
The Republican actor, whose memoir Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story hits bookshelves Monday, told Lesley Stahl that he performed two same-sex marriage ceremonies while in office. (Schwarzenegger appeared on Sunday night's 60 Minutes premiere; the segment about gay marriage was posted online as a 60 Minutes Web Extra.)

When Stahl asked if Schwarzenegger was in favor of gay marriage, he replied: "I always said that I have nothing against people doing what they want to do. If couple wants to get married, they should get married. I personally always said that marriage is between a man and a woman, but I would never enforce my will on people. I always want people to make that decision. If they want to get married, let them get married."
Stahl then asked if he went to the wedding of his former chief of staff, Susan Kennedy, whom he once called a "cigar-smoking lesbian," according to Stahl.
"I performed the wedding in the office," he revealed, adding: "I married her in the office -- in the governor's office."

Pressed by Stahl again if he is for gay marriage, Schwarzenegger replied: "I don't have to be for gay marriage. I'm for that she gets the kind of wedding and the kind of ceremony that I had when I got married with Maria [Shriver]. That she happens to love a woman, and I am -- a guy that loves a woman, that is two different things. It doesn't make any difference. She should still have her ceremony."
He then revealed that he also performed one other same-sex wedding ceremony, for another assistant who worked for him.
