Arts Alliance America announced the acquisition of "Chops," a documentary that follows high school jazz students from around the country competing at Lincoln Center's Essentially Ellington High School Jazz Band Competition & Festival.

Formerly Hart Sharp Video, Arts Alliance will release the film theatrically, and then subsequently onto DVD in third quarter of 2008.

"Chops," which debuted at The Tribeca Film Festival, tells the story of a group of kids with extraordinary musical ability who learn to make the most of their gifts in a Jacksonville, Fla., jazz program and then travel to New York City to compete against the top high school jazz bands at the Essentially Ellington Festival, hosted by artistic director Wynton Marsalis.

Josh Braun of Submarine Entertainment and CAA brokered the deal with Arts Alliance. "Chops" is a Bruce Broder film, in association with Winnercomm, Inc. with thanks to Jazz at Lincoln Center.
