ASCAP sets speakers for music expo

Jeff Lynne, Chaka Khan, Heart among event's lineup

ASCAP's fourth annual I Create Music Expo will feature interviews with Jeff Lynne, Chaka Kahn and Heart's Ann and Nancy Wilson along with panels and sessions with James Newton Howard, Ricky Skaggs and many others.

I Create Music runs April 23-25 at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel.

Before the interview with Lynne, ASCAP will present the producer and former Electric Light Orchestra frontman with its Golden Note Award in recognition of his extraordinary contributions to music. Previous honorees include Quincy Jones, Tom Petty, Stevie Wonder, Sean "Diddy" Combs and Garth Brooks.

The ASCAP conference -- aimed at songwriters, composers and producers in all genres -- comprises panels, workshops, master classes, keynotes, product displays and performances

One panel will gather Wyclef Jean, country songwriter Craig Wiseman and OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder to discuss the creation of music, while a writer-producers jam will feature Eric Bazilian and Rob Hyman of the Hooters, Holly Knight and Narada Michael Walden. Also on the schedule is a masters session with songwriters and composers including Howard, Skaggs, Paul Chihara, Richard Marx, Marcus Miller, Pete Rock and Billy Steinberg.
