Asia/Europe Producers Workshop Calls for Submissions

SEOUL – The 6th edition of  the Ties That Bind: Asia/Europe Producers Workshop is accepting submissions through Feb. 6 for feature-length co-production films between Asia and Europe.

Ten professionals will be chosen to take part in a two-part event that will take place in April in Udine, Italy, during the Udine Far East Film Festival (April 25-May 3) and Busan, South Korea, during the Busan International Film Festival (Oct. 2-11). The event is organized in partnership with Friuli Venezia Audiovisual Fund, EAVE, Udine Far East Film Festival and Busan Film Festival/Asian Project Market.

Workshop organizers are seeking experienced producers with a feature film project in development from Asia (Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam) and Europe (countries listed here).

Ten producers will be selected to work with leading industry experts from the two regions, focusing on script development, financing, marketing and promotion, and the legal aspects of co-productions.

Prospective projects must be feature-length fiction films for theatrical release, suitable for international co-production and in need of co-producers, and have a link to Asia for European applicants and vice versa. Preferably a minimum of 20 percent of the budget should be in place. Applicants must be the lead producer of the submitted project and have completed at least one film released in the last three years (theatrically, TV, DVD, VOD). The first draft of the script must be available in English for the workshop.

A selection committee will announce the list of participants in mid-March.
