Asian TV Network Diva to Launch Telemundo Programming Block
DIVA, which bills itself as Asia's leading entertainment channel for women, has inked a deal with NBCUniversal's Telemundo unit to air a special two hour block of programming dedicated to telenovelas come Aug. 4.
The 2 hour block will be titled DIVA Presents Telemundo and air weekdays from 4.15pm and will be available via pay-TV in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan and the Philippines. The telenovelas that will launch the Latin flavored programming are Aurora and Cruel Love (Perro Amor), two Miami-produced shows that will be dubbed in English with local language subtitle in certain markets.
Christine Fellowes, Managing Director, Asia-Pacific, Universal Networks International, said: “We are delighted to announce another milestone for NBCUniversal International Television with the launch of the Telemundo block in Asia. DIVA celebrates women and Telemundo defines passion – what better combination to appeal to our core female audience?”
The launch of the Telemundo programming block on DIVA is the first of its kind for an English-language general entertainment pay-TV network in the region said NBCUniversal and the deal comes a year after the launch of Telemundo in Africa – the first Telemundo channel to launch outside the Americas.
