Producer-DJ Destructo, aka Hard's Gary Richards, is Second Artist Signed to Insomniac (Audio)
And then there were two.
Following up its initial signing of Russian DJ/producer Arty, EDM impresario Pasquale Rotella's Insomniac/Interscope Records has added L.A. producer/DJ Destructo to its label.
The new track, "Party Up," featuring YG, will come out June 16 and appear on his West Coast EP later this summer.
For the follow-up to his Higher EP, Destructo takes on a new sound he dubs "G-house," that merges deep house grooves with smooth rap flows. Fans caught their first taste of "Party Up" via the HOLY SHIP!!! 2014 Official Recap Video, and now it will be available this summer for download via Beatport. Check out the Soundcloud preview:
Destructo's bootleg remix earlier this year with Wax Motif of YG's buzzworthy track "My N***a" earned the respect of such tastemaker outlets in the hip-hop and dance community as XXL, Life+Times, Earmilk and Dancing Astronaut.
Meanwhile, Destructo has announced phase one of his West Coast World Tour, which kicks off tonight in Portland, where Northwest area fans will get a listen to Destructo's brand-new set. Other stops on the tour include dates hitting Vancouver, Calgary, L.A., New York and Boston, with festival plays at Electric Forest in Michigan and Digital Dreams in Toronto. In July, Destructo takes the tour internationally, with stops in Paris, EDC UK in London, Ibiza and Barcelona. Next, he will return to the States for slots at HARD Red Rocks in Colorado and HARD SUMMER in Los Angeles, with the leg to finish in Tokyo. The complete routing follows below.
Destructo's alter ego Gary Richards is also the founder of Hard Events -- the world-renowned event and festival company recognized for landmark festivals such as Hard Summer, Hard Day of the Dead and the three-day electronic music cruise HOLY SHIP! He has been included on the "50 Most Important People in EDM" list by Rolling Stone twice, InTheMix's "50 Most Powerful People in EDM" list and Do Androids Dance's "20 Most Influential People in EDM" list.
"I'm proud to sign an artist that has been involved in the dance music culture since the beginning. Very few have had careers with such longevity and continued success," said Insomniac founder/CEO Rotella. "His new EP is so impressive, it has a unique sound that is all his own."
