Former 'Private Practice' Star Audra McDonald Marries Broadway Actor Will Swenson

Audra McDonald is a newlywed.

The former Private Practice star and Broadway veteran married Broadway actor Will Swenson on Saturday night at their home in Croton-on-Hudson, New York, according to People.

The couple, who met in 2007, reportedly got engaged on New Year's while vacationing in Puerto Rico.

"Well that was just the best day ever #SadieSadiemarriedlady," McDonald tweeted Saturday.

McDonald and Swenson both have children from previous marriages. She has an 11-year-old daughter, and he has two sons, 11 and 8.

McDonald, who played Dr. Naomi Bennett on ABC's Private Practice for four seasons, recently won her fifth Tony Award -- tying a record -- for her role in the Broadway revival of The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess.

Swenson most recently appeared in Broadway's Priscilla Queen of the Desert and next appears in the rock musical Murder Ballad, opening Nov. 15.
