In what's being described as a "wedding weekend," Canadian rockers Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger are tying the knot.
The couple are to marry this week at a ceremony in the South of France, a source tells The Hollywood Reporter. The Monday ceremony is being described as "intimate," with the singer reportedly wearing a Johanna Johnson custom-made dress, according to Us Weekly.
The Nickelback frontman proposed to Lavigne with a 14-carat diamond ring last August after a six-month courtship. The couple became close while working together on her upcoming fifth studio album.
“I knew I was falling for her,” Kroeger said shortly after their engagement was announced. “It was incredibly powerful and something I’ll never forget.
It is the first marriage for Kroeger, 38, and the second for Lavigne, 28, who was married to Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley from 2006-2009.
Ahead of the nuptials, Lavigne said Kroeger was letting her do most of the wedding planning.
"Chad is on board with all my ideas," she told People in June. "He knows that I have my own vision for the wedding and he likes what I like. He's down with whatever I'm down with. We have a lot in common, so it's been easier."
UPDATE: A beach-side party that took place in Cannes on Saturday was initially reported to be the wedding.
