Former AwesomenessTV CMO Tapped to Run Supergravity Marketing Division
Margaret Laney will be president of newly established marketing division Antigravity.
Supergravity has formed a new marketing division and tapped former AwesomenessTV CMO Margaret Laney to oversee it.
Called Antigravity, the division will house the marketing and audience intelligence business of the company, which produces and directly distributes films primarily aimed at young, online savvy audiences. Antigravity also will work with third-party productions including Andrew Bachelor vehicle Where's the Money.
Laney, who will oversee Antigravity as president, has spent the last year as chief marketing officer of food startup mytable. Prior to that, she was CEO of messaging startup Blurr. She also spent about two years at AwesomenessTV, serving as CMO during its sale to DreamWorks Animation and overseeing joint ventures with Hearst's Seventeen Magazine and Russell Simmons' All Def Digital.
"It's my hope to bring to this division a new lens shaped by my experience in the technology sector," Laney said.
Since its founding in 2014, Supergravity Pictures has been steadily building up a slate of direct-to-consumer films, including thriller The Chosen starring YouTuber Kian Lawley and Man Up, a buddy comedy with Justin Chon and Kevin Wu. The company currently is in preproduction on Rock Steady Row, to be directed by Trevor Stevens, and is in postproduction on a Ray William Johnson documentary.
