'Bad Moms' Premiere: Mila Kunis and Kristen Bell Make Predictions for Sequel
The cast of the STX comedy joined forces on the pink carpet at the film's world premiere in L.A. on Tuesday night.
The pink carpet was rolled out for Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, Kathryn Hahn, Annie Mumolo and Christina Applegate's reunion at the Bad Moms world premiere in Los Angeles on Tuesday night.
"You're trying to get us killed aren't you," joked co-writer and director Jon Lucas to The Hollywood Reporter about which character was his favorite to write for. "Writing Carla, which was Kathryn Hahn's character was really fun. The character has no limits and will just do anything."
But did he and fellow writer and director Scott Moore already have Hahn in mind for the role before casting her?
Moore told THR, "Finding these women was a trick and getting all their schedules to line up, that was the art of it. We weren't thinking of anyone in particular, but we're really, really lucky that it worked out."
As for the cast's favorite scenes, Kunis told THR, "The grocery store scene. That was a whole night! It was from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. we shot running around the grocery store like idiots and it was really fun." As for Bell, "All the absurdity was my favorite. The grocery store was a lot of fun, but I've never gotten to play a life-size uncircumcised penis before, and I feel like I met one of my life goals. I know my mom was very proud!"
Of the movie as a whole, STX Entertainment film chief Adam Fogelson said, "From beginning to end there is this absolutely perfect marriage of outrageous humor and totally relatable heart."
And will the studio be taking on more female driven comedies?
"We are looking for the best comedies out there," Fogelson said. "I have always been a fan of this genre: Bridesmaids was green lit when I was at Universal. Pitch Perfect is something we did at Universal. We know there's a huge audience for this, not just women, men. And the next female comedy that comes down the pipe, we'll say yes to just as fast as we did this one."
And maybe one of those future female comedies will be a Bad Moms sequel. The cast sure hopes so. "I genuinely hope there's a sequel! It all depends on how much money it makes," Kunis said, laughing. "We were talking about it, somewhere tropical! Send the moms off to Hawaii!"
Bell is thinking a destination sequel as well, "The obvious choice is that the moms go to Bora Bora. They go on vacation, if I have anything to say about it!"
The film was followed by an after party at STK at the W Hotel in Westwood that featured a full on photo booth to recreate the film's laugh out loud grocery store scene. Kunis' and Bell's husbands, Ashton Kutcher and Dax Shepard, joined their wives for the big bash.
