The contenders for the prestigious film awards are being announced bright and early Tuesday morning in the U.K., late Monday night in L.A.

With Golden Globes hangovers barely having had a chance to recede, the nominations for the 2017 BAFTA Awards are being announced bright and early Tuesday morning in the U.K. (late Monday night in L.A.).

Barring a few notable exceptions, the British Academy's voters have matched their AMPAS counterparts closely in recent years, so Hollywood is expected to be paying close attention.

La La Land, Lion, Manchester by the Sea and Moonlight are likely to feature strongly, while U.K. titles such as I, Daniel Blake and Bridget Jones's Baby — the second-biggest film at the 2016 local box office behind Rogue One — also could fare well.

The nominations announcement is being made at 7:37 a.m. London time (11:37 p.m. Monday, L.A. time) from BAFTA's London headquarters, with local stars Sophie Turner and Dominic Cooper on hosting duties. The awards ceremony itself takes place Feb. 12 at a new venue, the Royal Albert Hall.
