Balenciaga's Future Might Not Include Alexander Wang
Despite rising sales, speculation is building about whether the brand and the young designer might soon part ways.
Though nothing has yet been confirmed by Alexander Wang or Balenciaga, WWD reports that speculation regarding the renewal of the 31-year-old designer's contract is building. Currently, the trade states that Wang is working on the Spring 2016 collection, which is to show in Paris this fall.

Wang, who took over as creative director for the Kering-owned brand following Nicolas Ghesquiere's departure for Louis Vuitton in 2012, has infused the Paris-based label with his signature street-style flair during the past several seasons, which has helped Balenciaga see "double-digit growth." Additionally, his connections have helped the brand outfit the likes of Lady Gaga — whom he escorted to the Met Ball as his date — and tap supermodels Kate Moss and Lara Stone for ad campaigns.
While nothing is set in stone, it is believed that a departure could mean that Wang will be devoting more time and energy to working on his namesake label.
