Banff: James Cameron Boards 'Search for Atlantis' Doc
National Geographic Channel and Discovery Canada are reteaming for the expedition documentary about the Atlantis myth.
James Cameron is reteaming with National Geographic Channel to executive produce Search for Atlantis, an expedition documentary about the Atlantis myth.
Cameron has been part of other exploration docs, such as Ghosts of the Abyss, in which he returned to the site of the 1912 wreck of the Titanic. "Finding the historical and archeological truth behind the Atlantis myth has always been a fascination of mine,” Cameron said Monday in a statement timed for the Banff World Media Festival.
"Our exploration team will investigate several new theories about where the real Atlantis was, who these mysterious people were and what disaster wiped them from the Earth over three millennia ago," he added. Cameron earlier partnered with National Geographic on Deepsea Challenge 3D, a documentary about his record-breaking solo dive to the Mariana Trench in 2012.
Search for Atlantis, a two-hour special from Associated Producers, also for Discovery Canada, will be shot on location in Sicily, Malta, Crete, Santorini and Sardinia and will include underwater portions shot off the coast of Spain.
In 2011, both Discovery Canada and National Geographic Channel partnered with Associated Producers on another documentary, Finding Atlantis.
