Banker Andrew Walter Joins CAA’s Evolution Media Capital
After 14 years with Houlihan Lokey, he will help grow the advisory business and identify new investments at the merchant bank.
Andrew W. Walter has join the merchant bank Evolution Media Capital in Los Angeles as managing director, it was announced Tuesday by co-managing partner Rick Hess.
Evolution Media Capital, an affiliate of talent agency CAA, focuses on the media and sports industries. Walter is expected to identify new investment opportunities and help grow the company’s advisory business, which in recent months has advised on the L.A. Dodgers formation of SportsNet LA, the acquisition of the Memphis Grizzlies NBA team and the sale of the AMC Theater chain to the Chinese company Dalian Wanda Group.
"As a veteran industry banker," said EMC co-managing partner Bob Stanley, "Andrew will expand EMC’s knowledge base to help grow our advisory business and identify investment opportunities for our fund formed in partnership with TPG Capital."
EMC also operates a joint venture called Evolution Media Growth Partners with TPG that has raised $100 million to invest in media, sports and entertainment companies.
Walter has spent the last 14 years dong mergers and acquisitions, financing, financial restructuring and valuation at Houlihan Lokey. Among companies he has dealt with are Comcast, Endemol and Sony. He is also a Los Angeles City Commissioner serving on the L.A. Convention and Exhibition Center Authority.
