'Barbara,' 'Stopped on Track' and 'Hell' Among German Schnitt Nominees
"Combat Girl" and "The Albanian" also in the running for the film editors honor.
COLOGNE, Germany - The editors of Christian Petzold's East German period drama Barbara, Tim Fehlbaum's post-appocaylptic Hell and Andreas Dresen's Stopped on Track, about a man dying of brain cancer are up for the prestigious Schnitt Prize, which honors Germany's best film editors.
Bettina Bohler's editing for Barbara, Jorg Hauschild's cut of Stopped on Track and Andreas Menn's montage of Hell will go up against Andreas Wodraschke, who edited David Wnendt's skinhead drama Combat Girl and Ben von Grafenstein's cut of Johannes Naber's The Albanian for this year's Schnitt award, which comes with a €7,500 ($9,800) bursary.
Bohler also picked up a Schnitt nomination in the documentary film category for her editing of Angelina Maccarone's Charlotte Rampling – The Look. Other documentary editing nominees include Stephan Krumbiegel for Gerhard Richter Painting, directed by Corinna Belz; Agape Dorstewitz for Peter Goedel's Die Nacht ist nicht allein zum Schlafen da; Inge Schneider for Raising Resistance from directors Bettina Borgfeld and David Bernet and Jorg Hauschild for Vaterlandsverrater from director Annekatrin Hendel.
The winners of this year's Schnitt Prizes will be announced at a ceremony in Cologne on Nov. 26.
