Barcelona to Host Gamelab Int'l Game and Interactive Entertainment Fair
Microsoft’s Cliff Bleszinski, American McGee and Trip Hawkins set to give keynote addresses.
MADRID - Barcelona will host the 7th Gamelab International Game and Interactive Entertainment fair June 29–July 1, with international game gurus like Microsoft's Cliff Bleszinski, American McGee and Trip Hawkins scheduled to give keynotes.
Bleszinski is globally recognized for his creative work in the revolutionary Xbox Gears of War franchise, while McGee is creator of hits such as Doom and Quake, as well as Alice -- which adapts the Lewis Carrol classic -- and sits on the cutting edge of how gaming merges with new mobile platforms and online business models and Free2Play.
Hawkins, reputedly one of the great visionaries of the industry and founder of one of the world's largest gaming multinational of the game, Electronic Arts and Digital Chocolate, will discuss a vision for the future for the creation and commercialization of content in the digital world.
The speech will focus on social networking, mobile and online games and how they may also be applied to other fields related to content and digital culture.
Gamelab 2011 is backed by Spain's Culture Ministry, the Institute of Foreign Trade (ICEX), the Generalitat de Catalunya, through the Department d'Empresa i Ocupació and the Catalan Institute of Cultural Industries, and the city of Barcelona, with the collaboration of the Game Developers Association of Spain (DEV), the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences, Games from Spain, the European Business Games (EGDF) and sponsored by Game, Sony Playstation, Nintendo, Microsoft and Orange.
