BBC Acquires Kids Animated Series 'Sidekick' From Nelvana
CBBC will start airing the Canadian cartoon from creator Todd Kauffman in summer 2014.
TORONTO -- The BBC has acquired the Canadian animated kids series Sidekick from Nelvana Enterprises.
The broadcast deal for the first two seasons of the series about a superhero sidekick, Eric Needles, moving from second fiddle to first string when his boss, Maxum Man, goes missing will see CBBC start airing the cartoon in summer 2014.
Sidekick is produced by Toronto-based Nelvana, with Todd Kauffman as the creator and executive producer of the animated series.
The Canadian series aired on Cartoon Network in the U.S. market.
The Nelvana animation studio and Nelvana Enterprises, its distribution arm, are owned by Corus Entertainment.
