Production on hourlong series begins this summer

LONDON -- BBC America viewers will be chewing on a new stateside version of hit British format "Come Dine With Me" after the cable channel struck a deal with ITV Studios America to produce a U.S. version of the cookery show for its international network of channels.

Production on the 10-episode, 60-minute series begins this summer, with the show set to debut on BBC America in early 2011, on BBC Lifestyle in Asia, Africa, Poland, Scandinavia, Middle East and on BBC Entertainment in Latin America.

The show will feature New Yorkers competing for the title of ultimate dinner party host, bringing together four amateur chefs who take turns cooking up their idea of the perfect evening.

"Come Dine With Me" (U.S.) will be based on the format that has already proved successful in 20 territories around the world. BBC America will also air 22 episodes of the U.K. show, which will air in primetime beginning July.

The deal was announced by Paul Buccieri, CEO of ITV Studios, and David Weiland, svp programming at BBC Worldwide Channels.
