BBC Worldwide Inks Programming Deal With British Airways

In-flight entertainment system will include such shows as 'Luther,' 'Celebrity MasterChef,' 'Top Gear' and 'In the Night Garden.'

LONDON -- British Airways' cabin crew from December this year will be saying "sit back, relax and enjoy CBeebies, the first-ever tailored preschool channel," after their flight safety briefing.

BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC, has sealed a content deal with the airline to supply programming from branded channels such as BBC Entertainment, BBC Knowledge, BBC Lifestyle and CBeebies to the airline's in-flight entertainment system.

The deal means passengers will have access to series such as Luther, (BBC Entertainment), Celebrity MasterChef (BBC Lifestyle), Top Gear (BBC Knowledge) and CBeebies' favorites In the Night Garden, Zingzillas and Charlie and Lola.

BBC Worldwide Channels senior vp/general manager EMEA Ian McDonough said the deal reflects Worldwide's ambition to reach out to international audiences "with the best British content across a range of media platforms."
