Never-Before-Seen Beatles Photos to Be Auctioned
Twenty images taken by a crew member during filming of 1964's "A Hard Day's Night" will go up for sale at a May 19 auction in the U.K.
Never-before-seen black-and-white photographs taken of the Beatles during their early years are going on the auction block.
Twenty images of the band taken by Pinewood Studios props manager Peter Allchorne while they were filming their first feature film, 1964's A Hard Day's Night, will be up for sale at Omega Auctions in Stockport, Cheshire in northwestern England on May 19, the BBC reports. The pictures were lying in a family album since then.
Although taking photos on-set was strictly prohibited, the now 87-year-old Allchorne was able to capture candid moments on the band, which had until this point lived in a family album.
The photos show the Beatles with their instruments between takes. In one, drummer Ringo Starr was photographed putting his feet on bricks to make himself taller for the camera.

Allchorne's daughter, Jacqueline Griffin, said that her father was largely unaware of the growing interest in the Beatles and said it was typical for him to capture images while on a set.
"He wanted to take pictures of one of the crew, a mate Alfie, and they were there, it was when the Beatles were on stage," Griffin told the BBC.
She added: "He got to know them quite well but he was just not that interested. I think they just larked about and had a good time. He was not particularly star-struck, they were just four lads in a band, it didn't really hit him."
Griffin noted at one point that her father "never held any value on them because he was not into the Beatles, he was just working on the films."
Other items that will be up for sale at the same auction include a menu card signed by the four Beatles members and another that's unsigned and misspells the band's name "Beattles."
The signed menu card was from the band's flight from London to New York en route to the Bahamas for the filming of Help! The menu listed a choice of fine wines from the vineyards of Bordeaux, Champagne and clear turtle soup amontillado.
However, photos taken of the Fab Four in the Bahamas trip were lost after Allchorne's camera was stolen from the beach, the Guardian reported.
The sale of the Beatles items will take place at Omega Auctions in Stockport, Cheshire. The auction is expected to rake in about $16,100 (£10,000).
