Belgium distributor Belga Films has signed an output deal with Brussels-based financier/producer Umedia for rights to all upcoming Umedia titles for the Benelux region.

The deal, announced Tuesday by Belga Films' Patrick Vanderbosch and Jerome de Bethune and Umedia CEO Adrian Politowski, will include such titles as Cannes Film Festival opener Grace of Monaco starring Nicole Kidman and Sand Castle, a military drama produced by Mark Gordon and starring Nicholas Hoult.

As it ramps up its international production slate, Umedia is looking to be the lead producer on six to eight films annually as well as co-producing an additional 30-40 features a year.

"From these we have 12-15 films annually where we own Benelux rights," said Politowski. "As the caliber of our films to be released is very strong and commercial, it makes strategic sense for us to partner with Benelux's leading independent distributor to release them."

The agreement will see Belga release 10 features from Umedia in the coming months, including Hugh Grant starrer The Rewrite, John Wick with Keanu Reeves and French-language title Buddy Guards (36 Heures A Tuer).

Belga already has output deals in place for Benelux with Lionsgate-Summit, which includes the Hunger Games films, and with leading indie producers including Europacorp, StudioCanal, Gaumont and Voltage.
