Berenice Fugard makes Optimum decision
Named head of acquisitions for London outfitLONDON -- Berenice Fugard, a familiar face on the acquisitions and co-production festival circuit, has left Paramount Vantage to join StudioCanal's London-based shingle Optimum Releasing.
Fugard, who played a part in bringing "The Duchess" and "How to Lose Friends and Alienate People" to Paramount's attention, joins StudioCanal as head of acquisitions.
She will be charged with buying movies for Optimum for U.K. distribution and also will source multiterritory film rights to be distributed in all three countries where StudioCanal operates: France and the U.K. via Optimum and Germany via Kinowelt.
Fugard will report to Optimum Releasing CEO Will Clarke as well as Ron Halpern, executive vp international production and acquisitions for StudioCanal.
Before Paramount, Fugard spent nine years at Pathe in London.
