Berlin 2013: Metrodome Picks Up U.K. Rights To Tim Roth Starrer 'The Liability'

BERLIN -- Craig Viveiros' The Liability, starring Tim Roth as a veteran hitman and Jack O'Connell as his willing apprentice, has inked a U.K. distribution deal with Metrodome.

U.K. sales and finance banner AV Pictures had to resell the title, which originally had been picked up in June last year by the now-troubled British indie distributor Revolver Entertainment. Revolver Entertainment could not be reach for comment.

The movie unspooled at last year's Marche du Film in Cannes and reported brisk business following a screening for buyers.

The road-trip thriller is the story of a veteran assassin dreaming of retirement who is paired with an eager young driver on a mission to carry out a long-distance hit job. 

Talulah Riley (St Trinians 1 & 2, Pride & Prejudice) plays an enigmatic stranger who enters the duo's lives, and Peter Mullan (War Horse) turns up as the villainous stepfather of the young pretender.

AV previously secured sales on the Corona Pictures’ title in territories including North America (Grindstone Entertainment Group), Germany (Koch Media), Italy (Europictures), Japan (Nikkatsu Corp), Australia/NZ (Vendetta Pictures), Scandinavia (Another World), Brazil (PlayArte) and CIS/Baltic States (New Entertainment Partners).

Metrodome is planning a May theatrical release for The Liability.“We're delighted to be partnering with the teams at Corona and AV to bring Craig's stylish, intelligent and deliciously hard-boiled thriller to the U.K.," Metrodome Distribution acquisitions manager Giles Edwards said. "We've no doubt that audiences will be as quick to embrace the stellar talent both in front of and behind the camera with as much excitement as we have."

Viveiros (Ghosted) directs from a screenplay by John Wrathall, with the movie produced by Richard Johns (Truth or Dare, Shadow of the Vampire) and Rupert Jermyn (Truth or Dare).
