Berlin 2013: Mads Mikkelsen Joins Nordic Western 'The Salvation'
Kristian Levring will direct "Salvation" for Zentropa from a script co-written with 'In a Better World' screenwriter Anders Thomas Jensen.
BERLIN - Mads Mikkelsen has signed on to star in the upcoming Nordic Western The Salvation from Zentropa Entertainment. Set in 1870s America, Mikkelsen will play John, a peaceful settler whose family is brutally murdered. When John kills the killer, he draws the wrath of local gang leader Delarue and is forced to enact vengeance on his band of outlaws.
Danish filmmaker Kristian Levring (The King is Alive) will direct Salvation from a script he co-wrote with Anders Thomas Jensen, the co-screenwriter of Oscar-winner In A Better World. Levring and Jensen co-wrote the script to the director's last film, Fear Me Not (2008).
