Berlin: Alex Roe to Star in Romantic Drama 'A Moment to Remember' (Exclusive)
The Exchange is selling international rights for the remake of the hit Korean film in Berlin.
The 5th Wave's Alex Roe is in talks to star in romantic drama A Moment to Remember.
The Sessions helmer Ben Lewin will direct the film based on a script by Susannah Grant. The story follows a man (Roe) whose wife has a rare diseases that causes her to lose her memory. He attempts to give her one final memory of their love before it's too late.
The film is a remake of a 2004 Korean movie, which was based on the 2001 Japanese television drama called Pure Soul. The original film, which starred Son Ye-jin and Jung Woo-sung, was a strong hit in South Korea and Japan.
Mark Amin, Cami Winikoff and Scott Lambert are producing the feature remake, which had, in previous versions, had Katherine Heigl attached back in 2013.
The Exchange is handling international rights for A Moment to Remember at EFM and work with the producers on a domestic sale.
“For fans of the original breakout film, and those of us who enjoyed The Fault in Our Stars, The Vow and Letters to Juliet, you can expect the same touching story of a man going to great lengths for the woman he loves,” says CEO of The Exchange Brian O’Shea. “The chemistry between Alex and Nicola is going to melt your heart, put a smile on your face and bring tears to your eyes.”
Roe recently starred in Sony’s YA adaptation The 5th Wave opposite Chloe Moretz, which hit theaters on Jan. 22. He’ll next be seen in horror film Rings, which Paramount will release on April 1, and he’s wrapped work on coming-of-age film Hot Summer Nights, which also stars Maika Monroe, Thomas Jane and Emory Cohen. He's repped by WME and Luber Roklin Entertainment.
*Update Feb. 11: Transformers: Age of Extinction star Nicola Peltz was previously attached to this project but has dropped out.
