Berlin: Bloom Launching International Sales on Jamie Dornan Thriller

'Jadotville' is due to go into production in the spring.

Any buyers feeling a little hot under the collar following the 50 Shades of Grey premiere at the Berlinale next month might be able to pick up their own slice of Christian Grey afterwards.

International sales on Northern Irish actor Jamie Dornan’s next film will be launched at the EFM, with former Exclusive Media international president Alex Walton’s new outfit Bloom handling. Domestic rights are being repped by UTA.

Jadotville, also starring Guillaume Canet (The Beach, Tell No One), is a geo-political thriller based on a true story, recounting the 1961 siege of 150 U.N. troops in the Congo – now known as the Democratic Republic of Congo – after pro-Western warlord Moise Tshombe seized power, killing democratically elected Congolese Prime Minister Patrice Lamumba. Dornan will play Commandant Pat Quinlan, the Irishman who led the U.N. battalion against a force of 3,000 local troops fighting alongside French and Belgian mercenaries. Canet with play the Frenchman Falquez, fighting against Quinlan.

First-time director Richie Smyth will helm, based on a script by Kevin Brodbin,with shooting due to start in the spring in South Africa.

"We are always trying to find amazing stories to tell and this extraordinary true story of heroism against all odds is just that," said Walton. "To see Jamie, who is one of the most exciting leading men working today, alongside Guillaume, is a fantastic opportunity."
