Berlin: Kate Beckinsale and Chloe Sevigny Reunite for 'Love & Friendship'
Whit Stillman's film is an adaptation of the Jane Austen novella 'Lady Susan.'
Kate Beckinsale and Chloe Sevigny are to reunite with their The Last Days of Disco director Whit Stillman for the filmmaker’s adaptation of the Jane Austen novella Lady Susan.
In an announcement made Monday it was revealed that Beckinsale would take the lead in Love & Friendship, playing the widow Lady Susan Vernon who goes to live on the estate of her in-laws amid colorful rumors regarding her social life. While there she decides to secure a husband for herself and her daughter Frederica.
Sevigny will play Lady Susan’s friend and confidante Alicia, while other castmembers include Emma Greenwell, Morfydd Clark, Jemma Redgrave, James Fleet, Tom Bennett and Justin Edwards.
Love & Friendship — which will begin shooting in Ireland later this month — is being produced by Stillman, Katie Holly and Lauranne Bourrachot, and co-produced by Raymond van der Kaajj. The film is a Westerly Films production in association with Binder Films, Chic Films, Revolver Films, the Irish Film Board, Arte and the Netherlands Film Fund.
U.K.-based Protagonist Pictures is handling international sales, which will be pushed at the European Film Market in Berlin.
