Berlin: Don Cheadle's Miles Davis Biopic, Terence Davies' 'A Quiet Passion' to Get Gala Screenings

New films from Pernilla August, Kiyoshi Kurosawa and Sonia Kennebeck also will screen in the Berlinale Special section.

Don Cheadle's Miles Davis biopic and new features from Terence Davies, Pernilla August, Kiyoshi Kurosawa and documentary filmmaker Sonia Kennebeck will get special gala screenings at the 2016 Berlin International Film Festival, set to run Feb. 11-21.

Miles Ahead, starring Cheadle as the legendary jazz musician and co-starring Ewan McGregor, Keith Stanfield, Michael Stuhlbarg and Austin Lyon, will have its international premiere in Berlin.

Films set to have their have their world premieres in Berlin include Davies' A Quiet Passion, featuring Cynthia Nixon, Jennifer Ehle, Keith Carradine and Emma Bell; Kurosawa's Creepy, starring Hidetoshi Nishijima and Yuko Takeuchi; August's A Serious Game, with Sverrir Gudnason, Karin Franz KorlofLiv Mjones, Michael Nyqvist and Mikkel Boe Folsgaard; and Kennebeck's documentary National Bird.

The fest previously announced several documentaries to screen in the Berlinale Special section, including The Music of Strangers: Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble by Morgan Neville, Michael Moore's Where To Invade Next and the omnibus doc The Seasons in Quincy: Four Portraits of John Berger, directed by Colin MacCabe, Christopher Roth, Bartek Dziadosz and Tilda Swinton.
