Berlin: Survival Thriller 'Eden' Finds North American Home With Vertical
Ethan Peck, Nate Parker and Jessica Lowndes are among the castmembers.
Shyam Madiraju’s Eden, which stars Ethan Peck, Jessica Lowndes, Diego Boneta, James Remar, Sung Kang and Nate Parker, has landed with Vertical Entertainment, which has acquired North American rights for the survival thriller.
Written by Mark Mavrothalasitis and Parker and produced by Jaume Collet-Serra, Madiraju, Parker, Hernany Perla and Juan Sola, the film will be released in theaters in the third quarter. Voltage Pictures is handling international sales during Berlin's European Film Market.
The movie is from Ombra Films, the shingle of Unknown director Collet-Serra.
Eden is about the surviving members of an American soccer team after a plane crash on a deserted Pacific island. They "find themselves in the most dire of circumstances with limited resources, dwindling food supply and no rescue coming any time soon," according to a description of the film. "Team spirit evaporates as disagreements cause the group to separate into factions, a violent one led by an unbalanced ruler (Peck), and a compassionate one led by a selfless player (Parker)."
"We are proud to be partnering with Voltage Pictures and Ombra Films on the release of this intriguing film," said Vertical co-president Rich Goldberg. "The dynamic storytelling and Lord of the Flies appeal made Eden an instant draw and a strong addition to our 2015 slate."
