Berwick's role grows at Bravo

Frances Berwick has been promoted to GM of Bravo Media, the company said Monday.

Berwick was executive vp programming and production at the NBC Universal unit since 2005. She will continue be in charge of programming and production and will take over marketing, creative vision and direction. She reports to Lauren Zalaznick, president of Bravo Media and Oxygen Media.

With NBC Uni's acquisition of Oxygen, Zalaznick added a new channel to her responsibilities, leading the way for Berwick to be responsible for the day-to-day operations at Bravo. It's the second high-profile promotion at Bravo in as many weeks; last week, the company said that Bravo executive Jason Klarman would be named GM of Oxygen Media and run day-to-day operations there.

"Frances has been an excellent creative and business leader at Bravo, shepherding attention-getting, Emmy Award-winning hits for the past 12 years," Zalaznick said.

Among her accomplishments has been the development and production of "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy," along with developing and launching "Project Runway," "Top Chef," "Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List" and "The Real Housewives of Orange County," among others. She launched "Bravo Profiles," "The Awful Truth," "Cirque du Soleil: Fire Within" and other shows before NBC Uni acquired Bravo.

Berwick oversaw Independent Film Channel programming and joined Bravo in 1996 after a career at Channel 4 Television in the U.K., where she was in charge of international distribution and licensing.
