BET Chief Debra Lee Named to President Obama's Advisory Board
The executive is among the 10 new members of the board, which aims to provide advice on how to implement the best business practices.
BET Networks chairman and CEO Debra Lee is among the new members of President Obama's management advisory board.
The board, established in April, is compromised of leaders from various industries. It aims to provide advice on how to implement the best business practices on matters related to federal government management and operation, with a particular focus on productivity, the application of technology and customer service.
Also on the board are Greg Brown, president and CEO of Motorola; Sam Gilliland, chairman and CEO of Sabre Holdings; Jeffrey Kindler, chairman and CEO of Pfizer; Gail McGovern, president and CEO of the American Red Cross; Shantanu Narayen, president and CEO of Adobe; Enrique Salem, president and CEO of Symantec; Elizabeth A. Smith, CEO of OSI Restaurant Partners; Tim Solso, chairman and CEO of Cummins; and Ronald A. Williams, chairman of Aetna.
The board will hold its first meeting at the White House on Friday.
Lee joined BET in 1986 as vp/general counsel and was named chief operating officer in 1996. She became chairman/CEO in 2005.
