"I am not perfect. I am a proud American, today, tomorrow, always."

Kaley Cuoco has deleted and apologized for a photo she posted on social media over the weekend that involved the American flag.

In the picture the Big Bang Theory star posted to social media, her dogs were sitting on the American flag while the family was relaxing. That image did not go over well with some of her fans. In fact, the photo created such a backlash that the 30-year-old actress responded with a lengthy apology to her more than 2.7 million Instagram followers.

In her new post, a picture of an American flag in a heart shape, Cuoco wrote: "First off, please know, I have the utmost respect for my country. I am a proud American in every sense of the word. I understand the American flag stands for our freedom and represents American heroes, past and present."

The actress said she made a "mistake" by posting the photo and meant no disrespect.

"I sincerely apologize to anyone that has been offended by my previous post," she wrote. "This is no way reflects my feelings toward what the American flag represents."

Cuoco went on to say that being a celebrity is still difficult for her and she must remember "every mistake and every imperfection is amplified."

She added, "I am not perfect. I am a proud American, today, tomorrow, always."

I would like to comment on a photo I posted yesterday , that has caused lots of controversy. First off, please know, I have the utmost respect for my country. I am a proud American in every sense of the word. I understand the American flag stands for our freedom and represents American heroes , past and present. Yesterday I made a mistake by posting the picture that was taken of my sweet dogs posing on an American flag. I sincerely apologize to anyone that has been offended by my previous post. This is no way reflects my feelings toward what the American flag represents. Living in the public eye, can be extremely difficult at times. Every mistake and every imperfection is amplified. I am not perfect. I am a proud American, today, tomorrow, always.
