The spotlight on Wednesday may have been on New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, who was sworn in as the city's new leader, but the crowd also took notice of his wife, Chirlane McCray, and their daughter, Chiara de Blasio -- both spotted in Nanette Lepore coats.

McCray wore a raspberry Skyscrape coat, as well as Miriam Haskell jewelry, while Chiara chose a leopard-print Destination coat for the New Year's Day inaugural ceremony. Lepore's designs also have been seen on the likes of Modern Family actress Ariel Winter, We're the Millers star Emma Roberts and First Lady Michelle Obama.

Lepore first reached out to de Blasio when he was a candidate for the position, reports Women's Wear Daily. The designer, and her husband, Bob Savage, invited de Blasio to her office and factory in the Garment Center, where Lepore has been an avid advocate for promoting and preserving the fashion district.

"Chiara and I are proud to wear this beautiful clothing today, that was made right here in New York City," McCray said in a statement. "This city needs more creative entrepreneurs like Nanette Lepore who are committed to keeping our city's garment industry thriving."

Thanks to Lepore, a mayoral inauguration has never looked so chic.
