Black in front of Back Stage
EmptyJeff Black was named vp and GM of Back Stage, the magazine and online resource for actors.
Black was vp digital media and information services for The Hollywood Reporter, which, like Back Stage, is owned by the Nielsen Co.
Black joined The Reporter through its acquisition of the Hollywood Creative Directory, where he was publisher. Before that, he was publisher of Lone Eagle Publishing, which serviced the independent filmmaking community.
Before Lone Eagle, he was an executive with Semaphore Entertainment Group and for five years was a talent agent with Triad Artists, part of WMA.
Black's appointment was announced Monday and is effective immediately. He reports to John Kilcullen, publisher of The Reporter and senior vp Film & Performing Arts/Music & Literary Group for the Nielsen Co.
At Back Stage, Black is expected to expand the publication's "current footprint, build long-term relationships with advertiser and content partners and pursue new business opportunities across all platforms," Kilcullen said.
"My goal is to provide an end-to-end solution for the actor in print and online, from expanding upon our success in casting notices and special issues to integrating databases and video to leveraging digital-media opportunities," Black said.
