The Black List Partners With Verve to List Agency’s Entire Catalog (Exclusive)

About 200 new listings have been added to the directory as part of The Black List’s first-ever agency deal

Verve has become the first agency to have information about its entire back catalog of scripts listed on The Black List, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned.

Whereas writers always have been able to add script titles, loglines and other identifying information to the online database on their own, Verve has committed its resources to tagging and cataloging the unproduced screenplays of its entire client roster. About 200 new listings have been added to The Black List, starting Thursday. And for a limited time, the website’s front page will feature a pop-up offering to direct members to the comprehensive Verve script directory.

“We can turn old or dead business into new business,” The Black List founder Franklin Leonard tells THR. “Verve is the first agency to see the wisdom of doing this.”

The 5-year-old boutique firm has historically performed very well on Leonard’s annual survey of Hollywood’s hottest unproduced screenplays, topping the latest edition with client Kristina Lauren Anderson’s No. 1-ranked script Catherine the Great. Verve, an agency with perhaps less than a tenth the roster size of industry giants like WME and CAA, has appeared on the best-scripts survey 25 times, including with Seuss, clients Eyal Podell and Jonathon Stewart’s 2012 second-place showing.

“[The partnership] just made a hell of a lot of sense in terms of what they’re doing and what we’re doing,” Verve partner Adam Levine tells THR. “Every decision is about what can help our clients. This is another way to get their material out there for all the world to see.”
