Blue Ivy Carter Breaks Billboard Record
Beyonce and Jay-Z's baby daughter is the youngest person to appear on a music chart.
It's been a matter of days since the birth of Beyonce and Jay-Z's daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, but already she's heating up the charts -- and breaking records, too.
In fact, the newborn has become the youngest-person ever to appear on a Billboard chart, thanks to her cameo on Jay-Z's fatherhood track, "Glory (feat. B.I.C.)," which was released two days after her arrival and features audio of her cries and other baby sounds. The track debuted at No. 74 on Billboard's R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart -- the top-ranked new addition with 1.7 million audience impressions on 54 radio stations, according to Nielsen.
The rapper released "Glory" on his Life + Times website on Monday, dedicating the song to "the most beautiful girl in the world." He recalls the night she was conceived ("You was made in Paris and Momma woke up the next day and shot an album package") and shares the painful memories of a miscarriage.
“Last time all the pain/The miscarriage was so tragic/We was afraid you’d disappear/But nah baby you magic,” Jay-Z rhymes.
Baby Blue was born Saturday at New York City's Lenox Hill Hospital. Controversy ensued, with reports that patients were now allowed to see their own children because of the music power couple's overly-zealous security personnel. While Lenox Hill insists the reports are "not true," city health officials are investigating two complaints about the hospital's practices.
