Ana de Castro has been promoted to senior vp business and legal affairs at Warner Bros. Consumer Products. De Castro will be responsible for worldwide business and legal affairs operations. She will negotiate license agreements for use of the company's theatrical, TV and other properties on consumer products, promotions and theme parks as well as work on merchandising-rights acquisitions. De Castro will report to WBCP president Brad Globe.
Anne Gates has been appointed to the newly created position of executive vp and managing director at Disney Consumer Products, Europe. Based in London, she will oversee all DCP merchandise licensing, retail, sales and marketing and support functions for the region. She will report to DCP chairman Andy Mooney.
Nick goes to Mall
Mall of America, the nation's largest retail and entertainment complex, will feature new rides and attractions inspired by Nickelodeon shows and characters at its seven-acre indoor theme park in Bloomington, Minn. The grand opening is slated for spring 2008. Nickelodeon will bring its signature green slime to the park along with rides, live shows, attractions, retail outlets and games themed with Nick properties.
ERMA boarded up
The Entertainment Resources & Marketing Assn. has a new board of directors. Barbara Maultsby, vp at UPP Entertainment Marketing, is now president for a two-year term. Other newly elected board members include Cynthia Goldsmith of Marriott International, Joe Shields of Sony Pictures Entertainment, Eric Dahlquist of the Vista Group, Glenn Golder of PIC-TV and Tracy Merrill of Norm Marshall & Associates.
