Bob Costas to Debate Bill O'Reilly Over Gun Control on Fox News (Video)
A preview clip reveals the sportscaster clashing with the "O'Reilly Factor" host over the right to bear arms.
NBC sports personality Bob Costas will appear on the top-rated The O’Reilly Factor Wednesday night to expand on his views about gun control after weighing in on the issue at halftime during Sunday Night Football three days ago.
Costas will invoke the “wild west” and Dirty Harry while debating Bill O’Reilly about how much gun control is appropriate in the United States where the Second Amendment guarantees the right of the people to “keep and bear arms.”

“I want to be able to protect myself,” O’Reilly says during the interview. “You don’t want it; I do want it.”

Costas speaks about a “gun culture” and cites, as he did Sunday night, an article from Fox Sports columnist Jason Whitlock. He also cites Tony Dungy, who coached the Indianapolis Colts from 2002-2008.
Dungy asked his players, says Costas, “How many of you own guns? About 60 of the 80 raised their hands … they may feel that it’s part of a romanticized culture. There’s an aspect to this – a kind of wild west, cowboy, Dirty Harry aspect."

Costas broached the touchy subject of gun control Sunday night in response to Jovan Belcher, a Kansas City Chiefs linebacker who used a handgun to kill his girlfriend on Saturday before committing suicide.
Costas will also address gun violence with guests Charles Barkley and John McEnroe on his own show on the NBC Sports Network, "Costas Tonight," on Thursday.
