'Boondock Saints' Producer Chris Brinker Dies at 42
A memorial service will take place Feb. 19 at The Old North Church at Forrest Lawn Memorial Park.
Chris Brinker, producer of the cult film The Boondock Saints and its sequel, died Feb. 8 of an aortic aneurysm. He was 42.
Brinker was filming pick-up shots for Whiskey Bay in Marina Del Rey when he suffered the aneurysm. The film, currently in post-production, would have been Brinker's directorial debut.
He was producer of 1999's The Boondock Saints, which starred Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus. The movie, which developed a cult following, spawned the 2009 sequel The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day, which Brinker also produced. Both films were directed by Troy Duffy.
Other films Brinker produced were Lonely Street, The Fix and Borough of Kings.
Brinker will posthumously receive the Robert Smalls Indie Vision Award at this week's 7th annual Beaufort International Film Festival.
A San Diego native, Brinker is survived by fiancee Erika Bruun-Anderson; his mother and father, Sherron and Michael P. Brinker; brother Michael J. Brinker; sisters Laura Brinker-White and Brear Cannarsa; and seven nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will take place at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 19 at The Old North Church at Forrest Lawn Memorial Park at 6300 Forrest Lawn Drive.
In lieu of gifts and flowers, donations can be made to the Chris Brinker Productions Foundation, P.O. Box 3164, Del Mar, Calif. 92014. The foundation will help provide scholarships to young, aspiring filmmakers.
