Botkin researching for CBS Interactive

NEW YORK --- CBS Corp. has named David Botkin, a former eBay research exec, to the new position of svp of research and audience analytics for CBS Interactive, announced Patrick Keane, evp and CMO of the division, on Tuesday.

In this new role, created in advance of the launch of the CBS Interactive Audience Network, Botkin will establish metrics and analytics used for audience research for the company's interactive group. He will work closely with David Poltrack, chief research officer at CBS and president of CBS Vision, a digital media research initiative.

His responsibilities will include providing data and analysis on CBS' interactive audience, developing audience profiles for the company's off-network users and working with CBS clients and partners to develop new digital media strategies. He will work mostly with the company's sales and business units.

"David's highly-sophisticated approach to understanding user traffic and habits on non-linear platforms will be invaluable, particularly as we gear up to launch the CBS Interactive Audience Network," said Keane.

Botkin has worked in quantitative research and analysis for over 16 years. For the last five, he worked in research and business analytics roles at eBay, where he held positions of director of relationship marketing, testing and tracking; director of analytics infrastructure; and director of business analytics. Botkin previously had research positions for Epinions, Inc.--now Shopping.com--and at IBM's Almaden Research Center.
