Box Office Report: Remastered 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' Extends Run in Theaters
The classic 1981 film, starring Harrison Ford, was directed by Steven Spielberg and produced by George Lucas.
Paramount is extending the run of Steven Spielberg's remastered Raiders of the Lost Ark by another week.
Raiders of the Lost Ark commenced its one-week exclusive run on Sept. 7 in 267 Imax theaters, and has grossed a strong $2.4 million to date. As of Sept. 14, it will be playing in more than 300 regular digital theaters across North Americal (it's Imax engagement has ended).

"The re-mastering efforts by Steven, George and their team were incredible and the movie’s hugely successful run in Imax last week was a sure sign that audiences were excited to see the film again on the big screen. We are thrilled that audiences will have that chance again as part of this extended theatrical run,” said Paramount vice chairman Rob Moore.
STORY: 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' to Get Imax Rerelease
Under the supervision of Spielberg and sound designer Ben Burtt, the classic 1981 film --- starring Harrison Ford and produced by George Lucas -- was meticulously restored with careful attention to preserving its original look, sound and feel its release in theaters and on Blu-ray.
Indiana Jones: The Complete Adventures debuts on Blu-Ray Sept. 18 from Lucasfilm and Paramount, and includes seven hours of bonus material, including a brand new two-part documentary titled On Set With Raiders of the Lost Ark -- From Jungle to Desert and From Ad. It also features nearly an hour of rarely seen footage from the set of the film and archival interviews with Spielberg, Lucas and Ford.
