Brad Paisley Headed for Eighth Top 10 Album on Billboard 200 Chart
Industry sources suggest the country star's "Wheelhouse" may set might sell around 95,000 copies in its debut.
Country superstar Brad Paisley is aiming for his eighth top 10 album on the Billboard 200 chart next week. The singer's new Wheelhouse could bow at either No. 2 or No. 3, depending on how the rest of the week shakes out. Industry sources suggest the set might sell around 95,000.
Paisley has yet to claim a No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, although he's logged six No. 1s on the Top Country Albums chart.
The new Billboard 200 chart's top 10 will be revealed on the morning of Wednesday, April 17.
Rock band Paramore should debut at No. 1 next week with its new self-titled album. The effort, the trio's first since 2009, may sell around 100,000 to 110,000. The current week's champ on the Billboard 200, Justin Timberlake's The 20/20 Experience, will slip to either No. 2 or No. 3 with maybe 95,000 to 100,000.
There's a slim chance Timberlake could hold at No. 1 for a fourth week, although it would seem the odds are in Paramore's favor to bump JT from the top.
As for the rest of the top 10, look for Eric Church's new live album, Caught in the Act: Live, to start in the region with around 60,000. Church's set might be one of four country albums in the top 10 next week, joining the debuting Paisley and holdovers from the Band Perry and Blake Shelton. All seem to be prospering from exposure gleaned from the Academy of Country Music Awards on April 7.
Rapper Tyga should nab his second top 10 album with Hotel California next week, selling around 45,000. Rock bands Device and Volbeat might grab top 10s, as well. The former's self-titled set and Volbeat's Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies are each heading for a start of around 35,000.
The latter act has spent 110 weeks on the Heatseekers Albums chart with its last release, the breakthrough Beyond Hell/Above Heaven. It has sold 222,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan, and spawned three No. 1 singles on the Active Rock airplay chart.
On SoundScan's Building chart, Paramore is at No. 1 while Paisley and Timberlake are at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively.
The Building tally is a precursor to the final Billboard 200 ranking, reflecting the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week as reported by six major merchants.
As for the rest of the Building chart's top 10: Tyga ranks at No. 4, followed by Eric Church, Blake Shelton's Based on a True Story and the Band Perry's Pioneer at Nos. 5-7. Volbeat is at No. 8, Device at No. 9 and Stone Sour's new House of Gold & Bones Part 2 at No. 10.
