COLOGNE, Germany -- Germany's leading comedy production company Brainpool TV has acquired a 74.9% stake in D'nA Prods., a boutique company known for its talent in spotting up-and-coming comedians.

D'nA also produces "Nightwash," a low-budget stand-up show that airs on Comedy Central in Germany, and runs Cologne's annual stand-up comedy festival.

" 'Nightwash' is the most established platform for new comedians in German TV," Brainpool managing director Jorg Grabosch said. "Through this association with D'nA, we hope to gain access to new talent and future stars."

D'nA founder Klaus-Jurgen Deuser will stay on as head of the company. Both partners declined to discuss financial details of the deal.

Brainpool is Germany's leading producer of sitcoms and comedy formats. In addition to such original formats as "Beat Your Host" and "TV Total," the group produces the hit German-language adaptation of BBC's "The Office."
