'Breaking Bad's' Giancarlo Esposito to Star in off-Broadway's 'Storefront Church'
Breaking Bad's Giancarlo Esposito is heading off-Broadway.
The actor has been tapped to star in John Patrick Shanley's Storefront Church, the final installment in the Church and State trilogy that started with Doubt.
In the production, the Atlantic Theater Co. member will play a Bronx borough president who is forced by the mortgage crisis into a confrontation with a local minister as they explore the relationship between spiritual experience and social action.
The production marks the Esposito's return to the stage following his Broadway turn in the recent revival of Tennessee Williams' Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.
Shanley wrote and will produce Storefront Church, which begins previews May 16 and runs June 11 through June 24. It marks the first production to return to the Atlantic Theater Co.'s main stage, the Linda Gross Theater, following the completion of its $8.3 million renovation.
Bob Dishy, Zach Grenier, Ron Cephas Jones and Tonya Pinkins co-star.
Esposito recently booked a co-starring turn in NBC's J.J. Abrams drama pilot as a tough military man with a Southern manner. His credits also include a recurring gig on ABC's fantasy drama Once Upon a Time and guest role on NBC's Community.
He's repped by Domain Talent, Thruline and Principal Entertainment.
