'Twilight: Breaking Dawn' Promotional Tour to Feature Soundtrack Artists, Cast Members (Exclusive)
UPDATED: Christina Perri, who wrote and recorded “A Thousand Years” for the forthcoming installment, will join members of the Cullen clan for a series of performances in early November.
Twilight is hitting the road for a unique run of promotional dates that will feature select members of the Cullen clan, including Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Kellan Lutz, Nikki Reed and Jackson Rathbone, as well as performances from musicians featured on the soundtrack.
The tour runs Nov. 7-11, one week before The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 opens nationally, and will hit five U.S. cities, kicking off in Atlanta and traveling to concert venues in Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco and Salt Lake City.
Singer Christina Perri (slated to play three dates), Aqualung & Lucy Schwartz and Sleeping at Last (booked for other two dates) will each perform a brief set including the song they contributed to the movie’s soundtrack. (For complete dates and details, see the next page.) Tickets are free and will be made available at each individual venue Nov. 5.
For admitted Twihard Perri, who wrote “A Thousand Years,” the second single off the soundtrack, it’s a dream come true. “I'm still in shock,” she tells The Hollywood Reporter. “I’ve been a huge fan of the books, movies and the soundtracks so I was really honored to be considered.”
Perri says she was inspired to write the song “A Thousand Years” after screening an early version of Breaking Dawn. “I cried the whole time, then I went home and wrote the song about Edward and Bella and their love affair. It's probably the most romantic, lovey-dovey song I've ever written.”
Taking her fandom to the next level, Perri recorded the track (at L.A.’s NRG Studios and producer and co-writer David Hodges’ home) on Edward and Bella’s wedding date, August 13. “That's just me being a super geek,” she says, pointing out that it wasn’t a specific scene that brought the song to life, but the emotions. “It’s about a feeling -- the wedding and the honeymoon inspired the romantic super-loving vibe.”
The video for “A Thousand Years” will premiere on Nov. 10. In the meantime, Perri is looking forward to the great unknown. “They're so secretive about everything,” she says of Summit Entertainment’s rollout plan for the tour. “But I hear there’s a private plane involved and I think it's the Cullens that will be [on it] -- the family, all the siblings and maybe some werewolves. But it doesn't matter to me. I'd be stoked if it was an extra from the movies… If you would’ve told the Christina Perri of 2007 -- who was waitressing all day and coming home every night to read one page of Twilight at a time, so it wouldn't run out -- that four years from now, she was going to be on a private plane with the cast, I think I would've passed out. It's going to be a very surreal moment.”
As for the highly anticipated fourth installment of the series, opening Nov. 18, Perri assures fans will not be disappointed. “It is by far my favorite out of all four,” she says. “I was really happy to love it this much. I can honestly say that every single Twilight fan will freak out.”
