Former Fox Executive Breena Camden Dies of Breast Cancer at 49
The executive worked in marketing and publicity for the studio and its Fox Searchlight division on such films as "Sideways" and "28 Days Later."
Breena Camden, a veteran publicity and marketing executive at Fox Searchlight and 20th Century Fox, died Aug. 6 in Rocklin, Calif., after a battle with breast cancer. She was 49.
Camden was born in Chicago on Oct. 1, 1962. A graduate of Enterprise High School in Redding, Calif., and CSU Fullerton with a B.A. in Fine Arts and Communication, she began her career in the newspaper industry in Fullerton and then worked at The Orange County Register and the Los Angeles Times.
Camden joined Fox as a senior publicist for domestic marketing in 1992 after stints at MGM and Orion Pictures. During her career at the studio, she held a number of positions, which included posts in home entertainment and at the studio’s specialty films division, Searchlight.
She was promoted to executive vp publicity and field marketing for Fox domestic theatrical marketing in March 2006 and served in that position until she left the studio in September 2007.
Films that she was involved with included Searchlight titles 28 Days Later, Sideways, Napoleon Dynamite and Garden State as well as such Fox hits as The Simpsons Movie and Marley & Me.
Camden is survived her two sons, 12-year-old Rayne and 9-year-old Trinity, along with her father Tom Jones, mother Penny Jones, sisters Kimberly Parks and Kari Giampaoli, brother-in-law Marty Giampaoli and several nieces and nephews.
The family suggests that anyone wishing to honor Camden may donate to a fund in support of her sons at Rayne and Trinity Camden, in care of Kimberly Parks (Executor), P.O. Box 52650, Knoxville, TN.
